I do not love God out of obligation. I do not love God because I’m afraid He’ll be mad if I don’t. I do not love God because I am afraid of hell. I do not love God because I want to go to heaven. I love God because in my state of imperfection, incompleteness, incompetence . . . He first loved me.
“Everyone sees it. God’s work is the talk of the town. Be glad, good people! Fly to God! Good-hearted people, make praise your habit.” Psalm 64:9,10
